FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 22, 1991
Television producer Marian Inova, formerly with the Jet
Propulsion Laboratory, has been awarded the first-place 1990 Blue
Pencil-Gold Screen Award by the National Association of
Government Communicators (NAGC).
Inova, an independent television and video consultant, won
the award for her production of "Voyager: The Grand Tour," a four
and one-half minute long impressionistic retrospective of the
Voyager mission to the outer planets.
Judges from national news outlets and other organizations
selected the winners from among more than 850 entries.
Categories included television, film, still photography and the
print media. The competition is open each year to writers,
photographers, broadcasters and other communicators in federal,
state and local government.
A graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles,
Inova received her master's degree in motion pictures/television
in 1981.
She joined JPL in March 1982 and worked as a producer in the
Audio-Visual Section until February 1990, when she became an
independent producer.
A resident of the San Fernando Valley, Inova, 36, is
currently working on two documentaries, one to concentrate on
environmental issues and another one-hour holiday special.
